SkinPen Microneedling in Wake Forest
Achieving beautiful, healthy skin doesn’t have to be difficult or costly. In fact, Heritage Med Spa is proud to offer a number of minimally invasive treatments that can help your skin look brighter, younger, and fresher—and one of the most popular among our patients is SkinPen® microneedling.
What is SkinPen?
SkinPen microneedling is a minimally invasive, in-office treatment. This advanced needling device can be used for general skin rejuvenation, as well as treating acne scars, stretch marks, hyper-pigmentation, fine lines and general signs of aging. In addition, the SkinPen minimizes pores, improves overall tone and texture, and brightness and tightens skin—all with virtually no risk or down time for the patient.
Automated microneedling treatments are becoming more and more popular, as this method offers improved patient comfort, excellent control over the treatment area, and lowers risks to the patient. The SkinPen is also extremely versatile and can be used on almost any part of the body where skin rejuvenation is wanted, including the face, neck, décolletage, hands, abdomen, and back.
How SkinPen Microneedling works:
Prior to your microneedling treatment, your Heritage Med Spa aesthetician will make sure you are comfortable and apply a topical anesthetic to your skin. When you are ready, the aesthetician will treat your areas of concern with the SkinPen, creating hundreds of micro-channels in your skin. These micro-injuries prompt your body’s natural healing process, helping to induce collagen and elastin production in the area. Essentially, there are three basic phases to illustrate how microneedling works.
Phase 1: Inflammation causes cellular repair and response, and increases vascular supply, promoting the creation of fresh, new cellular and extracellular materials.
Phase 2: Tissue proliferation occurs and growth factors are secreted, along with continued development of elastin and collagen.
Phase 3: Skin remodeling becomes more apparent in this stage, with newly formed dermal tissue and vasculature having now matured, with stronger collagen producing visible skin tightening.
Custom sessions can be repeated to produce desired results. Typically 3 sessions are recommended (4 weeks apart for optimal results), but changes can typically be seen just one week following an initial treatment. Ultimately, the SkinPen provides patients with a great alternative to laser and chemical resurfacing, with impressive results and little or no downtime. It is versatile, dependable, and patients report high satisfaction with the procedure.
